Despite several well-intentioned, well-funded and highly collaborative initiatives across the fashion industry to create more circular products, value chains and business models, the voice and meaningful involvement of young people in these initiatives is largely absent.
We see this as a market failure that needs to be corrected. It is widely accepted that we have a generation to turn around our impact on a wide range of critical social and environmental systems. In order to do this, we’re creating a global movement amongst young people that will unlock their abundant creative potential to inform, shape and accelerate the creation of a world in which they can both thrive and drive positive change.
In no sector is the involvement of young people more pressing than in the fashion industry for whom they are a critical consumer demographic.
A unique opportunity exists to create a platform that will address this market blind-spot by engaging young people in the innovation process to transform the fashion industry while inspiring, empowering and equipping them as individuals.
InSpring, together with the C&A Foundation and JA Worldwide, are creating this platform. Launching at the Copenhagen Fashion Summit in May 2018, we will be engaging more than 1 million young people over a 3-year period.
